Apple Dumplings Yummy!

I am so in love with these Apple Dumplings I have to share them. They will satisfy that sweet craving and are so easy to make. When they come out of the oven my mouth starts to water and my nose flares with the wonderful smell. I can never wait for them to cool off either, especially if I have an after dinner coffee. But then they are just as delicious in the morning, cold.

So lets get started and Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 baking dish and get the ingredients together.

Ingredients

apple dumplings
  • 1 can Pillsbury Crescent dough
  • 1 large apple “any apple will do, I like mine tart”
  • 3/4 cup or 6 oz. 7-Up or equivalent “half the can”
  • 2/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup butter

Making the Dumplings

Peel the apple and cut into 8-10 wedges, however many crescent rolls you have. Pat the apple wedges dry and set aside. Now separate the crescent roll dough into triangles. Starting at the wide end of the triangle roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough. Make sure the apple is covered completely and pinch edges to seal the apple in. Place each dumpling into the baking dish and set aside.

Now the Awesome Sauce

Melt the butter in a small saucepan, once the butter is melted stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Whisk to combine the sugar and cinnamon with the butter as it heats up. The sauce will combine and slowly thicken. After it has thickened up remove it from the heat and whisk in the vanilla. Pour the cinnamon sauce over the apple dumplings, then pour the soda of your choice over the dumplings.

Bake and Enjoy

Put them in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Have some desert plates ready because you won’t be able to wait on eating one. The aroma, the sight of those flaky golden brown apple dumplings will be more than you can resist!
